THE FUTURE OF THE CARLISLE PARISHES: For some time the Bishop has been discussing with his advisors, plans for the future of the Carlisle Catholic parishes. Parish Councils, local clergy, the Diocesan Council of Priests have been consulted, together with a series of Parish Open Meetings. He has now decided to join all the Carlisle parishes into one. The new parish will be founded on the Feast of All Saints, 1 November 2020, and named Our Lady of Perpetual Help. More detailed information will follow shortly, including a pastoral statement from the Bishop. The weekend Mass times will remain as they are and each of the churches will have Mass celebrated in them during the week, although some of these weekday Mass times will change. The intention behind the decision is to enable us to sustain the parishes and churches of Carlisle as communities and places where we can encounter Christ, to support all parishioners as bearers of the Good News inspired by the Holy Spirit, and to serve God and His people. Shortly, the clergy will seek to arrange meetings with many of you who have important roles in serving the parishes and churches. We are seeking your cooperation, understanding and assistance in this endeavour. Most of all we ask for your prayers and goodwill.
